Volunteer Coach Requirements & FAQ

Pataskala Youth Soccer League (PYSL)

We appreciate the time, energy, and commitment it takes to volunteer as a coach for the Pataskala Youth Soccer League. To ensure a safe, positive, and well-organized experience for all participants, all volunteer coaches must meet the requirements outlined below.

Coach Registration & State Requirements (GotSport)

All coaches are required to complete State of Ohio coaching requirements to be eligible to coach in the league.

  • Coaches must create an account through GotSport

  • The BCI background check is free of charge

  • All requirements can be completed during the registration process

Required Coach Certifications & Training

All registered coaches must complete the following before coaching:

  • Background Check

  • Concussion Training Certificate (valid and current)

  • Lindsay Law Training

  • SafeSport Training

These items can all be uploaded at the time of registration.

Volunteer Coach Refund Policy

We recognize the commitment it takes to volunteer. To show appreciation, head coaches may be eligible for a registration refund upon completing the following requirements.

To Qualify for a Refund/Registration fee, Head Coaches Must:

  • Complete and pass a background check

  • Attend training sessions offered by Parks & Recreation

  • Attend the mandatory coaches meeting

  • Remain with the team for the entire season

  • Turn in all issued equipment at the end of the season

Refund Details:

  • Only head coaches are eligible for a refund

  • Each head coach may receive one refund per season, regardless of how many teams they coach

  • Refunds are not applicable to assistant coaches

Youth Coaches

  • Youth coaches may begin volunteering at age 15

  • Youth coaches must be accompanied by an adult

  • Approval and additional guidance are required
